Auction- an auction is a public sale where sellers offer up their items or products
to buyers who offer a specific amount of money for said products. The offer made
by the buyers is known as a bid. After each buyer makes a bid for the product the
seller accepts the offer of the highest bidder, and the item is sold and delivered
to that bidder. Normally, auctions were held in warehouses or commercial buildings,
or by the submission of sealed envelopes containing bids. However, now days a great
percentage of auctions are held online. Online auctions have revolutionized the auction
process by allowing sellers to place their items on the auction block virtually from
any part in the world. This has opened up the marketplace to the point that many
people routinely sell or buy their products from online auctions such as eBay and
Amazon. For more information on auctions and online auctions visit some of the auction

The Spectrum of Auctions-All auctions are managed by an auctioneer who rewards the
desired article to the highest bidder and charges the seller - and sometimes the
bidder a fee, a percentage of the realized price. In almost all auctions, the seller
sets a - published or undisclosed - "reserve" price - the lowest bid it is willing
to accept and below which the item is "reserved", i.e., goes unsold.
