I was looking at a news article today that reported on the budget cuts that Florida colleges and university are having to undergo, and about the negative effects that this budget cuts are having on the whole outlook of the higher learning institutions in Florida. One of the ways that the university system in Florida intends to use in dealing with this adverse decision from state legislators is by not accepting any sophomore and freshman transfers into the universities, and by imposing great restrictions on those seeking transfer at the junior level.

In looking at the last news email that was sent by Mayor Scott, I noticed how important local schools are to the whole make up of our communities. I wonder however, the effects this cuts will have on our children's education? Obviously there is perhaps not much that we can do since most voted to get a tax break this past election in lieu of having better and improved public services. What do you folks think? I know that they will start cutting out music programs and things related to art first, but eventually, football programs and other sports will suffer the consequences of this funding mishap.

If I were a teacher or a coach I would be seeking a means to offset this shortage of funding. Fund-raising would definitively be a priority in my agenda, and I would do more than wash cars. I would get involved with some type of fund raising that would provide recurring funds. Maybe I would get into opening a thrift shop, or selling donated items in eBay. One very viable option would be to get involved with telecommunications. I mean all of us use a cell phone and have a phone at home, so why not encourage the parents to use the telecommunication programs from the company that the school represents? There is a company that has a fantastic program whereby a school or a school program could raise funds. If you are involved with any of this programs go to School Fundraiser for more information.
